VFX Mentor

We have responded to your call and the industries requirements. Most of our courses will now be held in a "work-friendly" form and times, in both Face-2-Face and Online formats . Times for short courses are now Monday to Friday evenings from 7pm till 10pm, with the addition of 3pm-6pm on Fridays and full day 10am - 6pm on Saturday and Sundays. That way you still get all the juicy bits and your employer doesn't miss a tick of your talent either and you continue to rake in the dough. And for all you people who can't make it to sunny Sydney we are developing highly interactive online formats, so you never have to leave your desk!

All 3 hour sessions include two 10 minute breaks after 1 hour to prevent brain-freeze.

We have spent a lot of time researching and asking questions to our advisory board and countless colleagues at work about what format and what content would be most interesting to them and consequently you. We have come up with the following options:

enjoy the premier training experience with Face2Face training. Instructor and Mentor lead classes with a minimum of 30 hours of in-class training per course. This format allows for the best learning experience and integration, and gets you up to speed on your chosen subject fast. Further you have direct access to your Mentor during that time. In addition to the Face2Face training sessions this format also caters for a 3 months post-training support period to allow you to seek help, support and guidance from your mentor as you apply your new skills in your every day work environment.

We are currently preparing to give you access to our courses through the internet. Thus you don't need to travel or need to be in Sydney to benefit from professional and mentored training by industry professionals. Courses will be available in three different formats for your convenience and needs:

Mentored Workshops: 10 units, spannig over 10 weeks where you receive recorded lectures, have special secure online forum access and video-conferencing and weekly feedback on your progress and mentoring support for an additional 3 months using the above mentioned methods*. Classes are limited to 24 participants. We are also developing options to certify participants using on-line assessment methods, so stay tuned for these option wherever you are in the world.

Self-Paced Workshops: normally 10 lecture and tutorial units, similar to the Mentored course, but without the personal support and feedback options. You can choose your own pace in this format. This course wil still get you to where you want to go, just not with the help of a personal mentor. There will exist the option of adding basic Mentor Support to the mix on an individual subscription basis if required. These courses are designed to allow you to start the course at any time.

Tutorlal Format: choose what you learn, when you learn it and how often. This service is basically a subscription based learning service, where you get access to a certain number of courses per month and can also increase that quota if required. The courses are not structured and are more like shorter tutorial based lectures and presentations.

VFX Mentor On-Line Workshops are short courses designed by professional artists for the creative computer graphics industry. Run securely over the web, the workshops give everyone the opportunity to learn specific skills and be tutored by the leaders in all areas of Computer Graphics.

Courses run over periods of 10 weeks with groups of no more than 24 ensuring students receive personalized mentoring. The forum environment allows direct communication and assists students and Instructors to collaborate at any time from anywhere in the world.

Weekly sessions commence with the presentation of a written and videod lecture followed by the distribution of tutorials and assignemnts. Assignments assist students apply the new skills from the lectures as well as receive guidance and coaching from the Mentor and other students in the group. Access to the Workshops is via our MentorZone Forums

Anybody world-wide can enroll in our courses, but a broadband or high-speed internet connection is recommended for best access and benefits.

All courses are presented by artists and technicians who have a solid, up-to-date understanding of the industry and who excel at what they do.

We have decided to offer 3 levels of short courses, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Courses. These courses are designed around specific topics and will enable you to get up to speed fast on these topics and learn valuable, production relevant skills and knowledge sought after and required in the industry. Overall we have 10 different courses for you to choose from!

Our Intermediate and Advanced courses are best suited to practicing professionals and already trained artists and operators with some experience in vfx. They are also suited for graduates from other facilities wanting to increase their skills in a particular field and getting to where they want to go.

In addition to our short courses we also offer the Full-On Ultimate courses. These take you all the way from the beginnings to being ready to jump into full-on production. They are full time and require a strong commitment. We have designed theses courses together with high-standing practitioners and decision makers in the industry to ensure you get the best foundation of getting to where you want to go.

From a timing point of view you need flexibility or you need to get up to speed fast. We all have other things in life other than work, so we offer you these different options of structuring you learning:

Face2Face short course, where you attend 10 x 3 hr sessions over the course of a week training and hopefully also working on assignments in in your spare time and after the course. This format is especially suited to working professionals that are in-between jobs, aspiring artists that want to get up and running fast and also for interstate attendees who need to minimize their time away from work and home.

Full-On courses, well they run Full-Time over several weeks, in the case of the Ultimate 3D course over 12 weeks of actual contact time. These courses are designed to completely immerse the participant in an as close as possible working production environment and get you where you want to go ... faster.
